Egypt’s Red Sea Is Entering a New Phase of Tourism Development

Egypt’s Red Sea coast continues to attract investment in hospitality and leisure, with new projects planned south of Hurghada.

On 6 October, Egypt’s Tourism Development Authority announced the allocation of more than one million square metres of land in South Magawish for tourism projects. The developments are expected to add approximately 856 hotel rooms and two water parks.

The plans form part of Egypt’s wider ambition to expand its tourism capacity and attract 30 million visitors annually by 2030.

Beyond accommodation, the Red Sea offers opportunities to develop a broader range of visitor experiences, from outdoor recreation and marine activities to nature-based tourism and wellness-oriented hospitality.

As investment continues, the challenge will be to create destinations that combine high-quality visitor experiences with responsible development and the protection of the region’s natural environment.
